Why licensing exists
A licence exists to ensure its holder has the knowledge and skill required to uphold the safety of ATS.

International versus national regulation
ATCO licensing crosses borders. FISO licensing does not.

Air traffic controllers are regulated internationally, under EASA Part-ATCO.
BL 6-71
National onlyFISO and other FIS staff
No international regulation exists for FISO or other FIS staff. In Denmark they are regulated under BL 6-71.
Suspension or revocation
A FISO licence is normally suspended, or revoked, on medical grounds: a FISO failing to meet the requirements for the issue of a medical certificate, or medical approval.
